Throughout their lives together my grandparents took hundreds, if not thousands of pictures. Documenting over fifty years of birthdays, christmases, houses moved to, cars bought, trips taken. I had forgotten about the sometimes tradition of pulling out the projector after Thanksgiving dinner. There's something comforting about stretching out on the floor with a full belly, listening to the kerplunk of the projector, and watching your family history go by. It occurred to me this year that these images are probably a significant part of my love for imagery, and I am thankful they exist.

edibleBoston: 5th Year Anniversary Party
I had the opportunity a while back to set up a photo booth at the edibleBoston 5th Year Anniversary Party. There's really nothing better than doing a shoot where people bring you plates of amazing food! (b+w event photos by Eric Antoniou)

If you don't know who Ashley Stanley is then you should probably check out the website for her non profit right now: http://www.lovinspoonfulsinc.org/
Old and Newton: Chestnut Hill Shopping Center
Style Profile: Roslyn Meyer
I can't believe I forgot to post this one! Roslyn is one of my favorites from Style Profile. She used to be a producer for the film industry and has all sorts of amazing stories. If you see her, ask about Billy Idol...

Look Dad, I'm in the New York Times...
After a grueling month of work I woke up this morning to eggs and bacon from some unexpected guests, a cup of coffee, and my picture of Anita Hill in the New York Times. Today is going to be a good day!

Improper Bostonian Cover
In the height of the recession when the financial world was crumbling, I stood in the middle of Herald Square in New York City, staring up at the billboards, wondering how I was going to pay the next months rent. I had been making a cup of tea and wondering what I might have for lunch when I was laid off from my job as a full time assistant. I decided right there and then that I would never again put my security in someone else's hands and started my own photography business. It has turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. That experience is one reason why I love the story on comeback chefs in the latest issue of the Improper (the other is that I got to shoot all the pictures for it!). If you live in Boston and don't know the name William Kovel yet, you will. William was laid off from his job as executive chef at the now closed Aujourd'hui during the recession. He has doubled his bet and is opening a restaurant in Kendall Square that is at least twice as big. The opening line in the magazine gets it just right, “the economy may have knocked out their last restaurants, but these chefs aren’t just making comebacks-they’re coming back swinging.”
Outfitter Outtakes
This was one of my favorite shoots for this years Boston's Best issue of the Improper Bostonian. Armed with a camera, a flash, and a super cool photo editor, we hit the streets of Beacon Hill to highlight the fashion of North River Outfitters.
Look Mom, I'm in the New York Times...
...well, my picture was anyway. I'm honored to have had the opportunity to shoot a portrait of economist Larry Summers for the New York Times Sunday Magazine. The Times asked me to shoot it in my usual style, so with the technical aspects well in hand, my biggest concern was whether to call him Mr. Summers or Dr. Summers. Things that, to me, are far more complex than f-stops and shutter speeds any day. In the end we settled on Larry.
Drink Boston
I never know what people are going to be like before I get to a shoot, but I always hope they are like Lauren Clark of Drink Boston. Lauren is one of the nicest people I've photographed and an expert on one of my favorite subjects, how to drink well in Boston.
Mon Petit Chou Chou
I recently spent an afternoon at Louis Boston with blogger Lani Zervas. I documented the afternoon while Lani got dressed to the nines by stylist Pamela Gechijian. You can also see the images on her blog at Mon Petit Chou Chou, which is of course the best name ever for a blog.

At Work
Now and again I get the chance to shoot headshots for some pretty cool people. Some are writers, some are hedge fund managers, some are editors, but they all want a picture that simply says 'this is me, at work.' Here are a few of my recent favorites.

Improper Illustrated
I had the opportunity to shoot the Imperatives section of the Improper Bostonian featuring a swimsuit designed by Newbury Street designer Daniela Corte. One of Corte's swimsuits, in the same peacock pattern, was featured in this years Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Does that mean I'm one degree or two from the coveted Swimsuit Edition? Check out the full story here.
Improper Bostonian
Exactly one year ago I shot my first job for the Improper Bostonian. The latest issue has not one, not two, but ten of my images in it. Thank you Katie and everyone else over there for a great year. The cover shot features Chris Lambton of the Bachelorette who gave a very candid interview about being on a reality t.v. show. Check it out here.
The Free Spirits section features local successful singles. Check out the awesome behind the scenes video by TeeDox films here.
And of course this month's Style Profile. Check out Megan Leavy's interview here.
Photo EdiDeTour
While I was waiting for the blog to be developed there was an exciting (arrested) development. Now that it’s here I can finally post about it. For the past few months I have been freelance photo editing for Boston Magazine. For my first assignment my good friend Chad Griffith took some great photos of real estate developer Don Chiofaro.
