I can't believe I forgot to post this one! Roslyn is one of my favorites from Style Profile. She used to be a producer for the film industry and has all sorts of amazing stories. If you see her, ask about Billy Idol...

Look Dad, I'm in the New York Times...
After a grueling month of work I woke up this morning to eggs and bacon from some unexpected guests, a cup of coffee, and my picture of Anita Hill in the New York Times. Today is going to be a good day!

Improper Bostonian Cover
In the height of the recession when the financial world was crumbling, I stood in the middle of Herald Square in New York City, staring up at the billboards, wondering how I was going to pay the next months rent. I had been making a cup of tea and wondering what I might have for lunch when I was laid off from my job as a full time assistant. I decided right there and then that I would never again put my security in someone else's hands and started my own photography business. It has turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. That experience is one reason why I love the story on comeback chefs in the latest issue of the Improper (the other is that I got to shoot all the pictures for it!). If you live in Boston and don't know the name William Kovel yet, you will. William was laid off from his job as executive chef at the now closed Aujourd'hui during the recession. He has doubled his bet and is opening a restaurant in Kendall Square that is at least twice as big. The opening line in the magazine gets it just right, “the economy may have knocked out their last restaurants, but these chefs aren’t just making comebacks-they’re coming back swinging.”
Outfitter Outtakes
This was one of my favorite shoots for this years Boston's Best issue of the Improper Bostonian. Armed with a camera, a flash, and a super cool photo editor, we hit the streets of Beacon Hill to highlight the fashion of North River Outfitters.
Look Mom, I'm in the New York Times...
...well, my picture was anyway. I'm honored to have had the opportunity to shoot a portrait of economist Larry Summers for the New York Times Sunday Magazine. The Times asked me to shoot it in my usual style, so with the technical aspects well in hand, my biggest concern was whether to call him Mr. Summers or Dr. Summers. Things that, to me, are far more complex than f-stops and shutter speeds any day. In the end we settled on Larry.
Drink Boston
I never know what people are going to be like before I get to a shoot, but I always hope they are like Lauren Clark of Drink Boston. Lauren is one of the nicest people I've photographed and an expert on one of my favorite subjects, how to drink well in Boston.
Mon Petit Chou Chou
I recently spent an afternoon at Louis Boston with blogger Lani Zervas. I documented the afternoon while Lani got dressed to the nines by stylist Pamela Gechijian. You can also see the images on her blog at Mon Petit Chou Chou, which is of course the best name ever for a blog.
